Lauryn Bewlay is the founder and lead therapist at EMPOWER. Lauryn's passion for helping others was decided long ago when she wanted to become a teacher - the first day of Kindergarten. After 5 years in the profession, it just wasn't calling as strong as she once thought it was going to. She decided to switch careers, working full time as a teacher and completing pre-requisites courses to apply for Occupational Therapy (OT) School. While in OT school, Lauryn found her passion in orthopedics and pain management, helping others overcome pain to enjoy the one and only life they have.
When OT school was finished, and there were not any opportunities for the outpatient setting, Lauryn did a few contracts with a skilled nursing facility and understood the importance of aging in place for individuals and their well being.
Like any risk to having a travel contract, it was cancelled, and Lauryn jumped on the opportunity to work for multiple companies, multiple settings and grew to love how diverse and unique the role of an occupational therapist was.
Lauryn is not a stranger to pain herself with multiple injuries effecting every day life. Learning different strategies that helped her pain, she wanted to share and give people that same relief. She wanted to create a membership program that would allow clients to get relief without breaking the bank.
Lauryn continues to grow her knowledge by completing advanced certifications and new innovations to continue to help clients, she has completed her COMT - UE (Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist - Upper Extremity) and dry needling specialty as well as other classes that are specific to help those she treats.
Outside of work, Lauryn spends time with her family, friends, her two pups and gardening/plants. She also continue to practice what she preaches, being involved in Burn Boot Camp, Pilates and going to a therapist herself to help with mobility.
